Project Profile: BIG Message Means Big Marketing!
This week’s profile was a massive project that was two years in the making. PI client CoverMaster, traditionally a field and seat tarp maker, called on Point Imaging to produce printed mesh graphics to cover the entire upper deck of Qwest Field in Seattle, WA.
CoverMaster first contacted Point Imaging in the fall of 2007 for this unique graphic solution. The challenge was to design and implement a graphic wrap that was both feasible and within budget. Microsoft was using the upper deck of Qwest Field to help launch their newest Xbox soccer game, MLS Live during home games of the Seattle Sounder’s inaugural season in the MLS.
Prototyping began in early 2008, demonstrating how the materials would deal with any weather related concerns that could be encountered. After successful testing, production started at PI’s 66,000 sq ft. facility. Point Imaging printed on outdoor grade mesh banner material and welded handles on each panel that represented a section of covered seating. After an intense and busy production schedule, shipping and installation took place with the final shipment occurring in early 2009. The total square footage of mesh used in this massive marketing project exceeded 300,000.

Opening day for the Seattle Sounders was televised nationally on ESPN. There were several panoramic shots of the massive advertisement. Both CoverMaster and Xbox were thrilled with the results and how the entire project came together. Point Imaging came through in a BIG BIG way!
